Leading paint brand Johnstone’s has recently been indulging in some playtime by supplying its Smooth Metal Paint for the colourful renovation of Reedswood and Willenhall Memorial Parks in Walsall. 

Willenhall Memorial Park was created in the early 1920s to commemorate the many people who died in the Great War. The resulting woodland is now an attractive backdrop to the park’s many facilities, which include a bandstand, bowling green, children’s play area, fishing pool and community pavilion. Reedswood Park also used to have an outdoor swimming pool but this has since been replaced with more modern facilities such as a skate park, children’s play area and a fishing pond.

With the children’s play areas in both parks in need of a lick of paint, Johnstone’s Smooth Metal Paint was selected by Walsall Council to bring the parks back to life. The paint has been designed specifically to provide up to five years protection for exterior metal surfaces and a wide choice of colours available thanks to Johnstone’s specialist tinting system made it ideal for this job, where an eye-catching finish was essential.

Climbing frames, swing sets, slides and roundabouts were all painted in an array of pinks, greens, purples and reds to help provide children with a space that is safe, interesting and above all else fun.

Johnstone’s Road Marking Paint was also used to mark off spaces in the car park.

We’ve also just won a prestigious Green Flag award and that had a lot to do with the work we carried out in the children’s play areas.
