Imperial Court, located in Central London is a landmark Grade II listed building. Having originally served as the headquarters of England’s Army, Navy and Air Force, the remarkable building has since been remodeled into residential accommodation, offering 64 homes in a heritage setting.
The exterior of the property boasts stock brick with dressings of stone and stucco in classical style. The rusticated ground floor and first floor podia forms voussoirs to round-arched openings creating a grand and welcoming entrance.
When the exterior of the property needed a refurbishment, chartered surveyors Shaw & Co turned to PPG to provide a bespoke specification that was focused on providing long-term durability and protection, whilst also keeping up with the aesthetics of the heritage settings.
Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Pliolite, which is BBA approved offering a 15-year life expectancy was chosen for the project to provide a long-lasting, weather-resisting finish. The expert re-decoration was finished in Ivory, a colour that fitted perfectly with the heritage of the building and its surroundings.
Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Flexible Gloss was also selected to decorate the exterior timber, complimenting the external finish whilst also providing an expected life of up to 8 years when used to specification.
The re-decoration also included the use of Johnstone’s Trade Smooth Metal Paint. The product which is a primer and top-coat in one can be applied directly to bare, previously painted or lightly rusted surfaces. Additionally, the product has anti-corrosive properties, keeping exterior metal surfaces looking their best for up to five years.
