Johnstone’s Trade’s Stormshield range has been used to restore the exterior of a residential property in Belfast which had been left without proper protection from the elements since being built.

The house on Broomhill Lane in the city had cracks emerging in the exterior paintwork as a result of the inadequate waterbased product originally applied, leaving the building materials vulnerable to damage.

After careful preparation of the exterior using Johnstone’s Alkali Resisting Primer to prevent deposits forming which would have a detrimental effect on the performance of the top coat, Belfast-based Rainbow Decorators painted the entire exterior of the house. Using Johnstone’s Stormshield Pliolite Based Masonry Finish in a sandstone shade, the house now demonstrates a high quality, low maintenance finish which is guaranteed to withstand the elements for the next 15 years.

Pliolite Based Masonry finish was the ideal product for this project, which had a short three-week deadline, as it is specially designed for use in low temperatures or when rain is imminent, so waiting for the perfect weather to paint wasn’t an issue.

Johnstone’s Smooth Metal Paint, which forms part of the Metal Defence System, was applied to the metal garage door, gutters, drain pipes, handrails and gates to provide a smooth semi-gloss finish. As a primer and top coat in one, it not only offered a time-saving solution, but its anti-corrosive properties will provide protection from rust for the next five years.
