The durability of Johnstone’s Trade’s Endura Super Durable Matt has proved to be the perfect match for a new £30 million school project in Glamorgan.
Penarth Learning Community School, a flagship project in the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s 21st Century Schools Investment Programme, features specialist areas including sensory pool and sensory rooms. The 20-strong team of decorators from R&M Williams spent eight months painting the school’s vast interior using 60,000 litres of paint, ahead of its September opening.
Working closely with HLM Architects and main contractor Bouygues, the team from R&M took care to specify paint products that would stand up to the rigors of daily life in a busy school, and also provide an attractive finish.
Johnstone’s Endura Super Durable Matt, which is tested to over 10,000 scrubs, was selected for the school’s high traffic areas, providing an easy-to-clean, flat matt solution.
Other surfaces that would be less exposed to wear and tear were coated with Johnstone’s Acrylic Eggshell, offering a similarly hard-wearing finish particularly well suited to high condensation areas.
Johnstone’s 2 Pack Water Based Epoxy Floor Paint provided a highly resilient, durable surface, and in total over 60,000 litres of Johnstone’s paint were used to complete the job.
Andrew Hedditch, contracts manager at R&M Williams, said: “Our team of 20 decorators worked tirelessly for a period of eight months to ensure the school was ready to open its doors at the start of the new term.
“Our pro-active approach, combined with experienced local labour and the highest quality of paint products from Johnstone’s ensured an outstanding finish.”
