Johnstone's Trade continues to set the standard for sustainable paint solutions after a further six of its products received verification from BRE Global, the certification arm of building science centre BRE.
Johnstone's first received the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) verification for three of its products earlier this year, with that total now rising to nine. Johnstone's is the first decorative coatings manufacturer to receive certification with complies with European Standard EN 15804.
An EPD is a standaridised way of assessing the full environmental impact of a product through its lifespan from raw materials and manufacturing to application, use and disposal. Johnstone's verified EN 15804 EPD allows architects to accurately compare competing materials from an environmental perspective and enables contractors and building owners to comply with government rules.
EPD's are independently tested to strict standards to ensure the underlying data, data handling and EPD itself are consistently reliable. The credibility of an EPD which meets EN 15804 gives specifiers and architects peace of mind that they are specifying products in keeping with environmental standards set by the BREEAM and LEED.
Johnstone's EPD products also all benefit from being SKA Rating approved, meaning project teams interested in fitting out spaces in an environmentally sustainable way can use Johnstone's with confidence.
Full details of Johnstone's EPD verification are available on GreenBookLive - a unique reference source and online listing of environmental products and services; Johnstone's BIM objects can also be found on the National BIM Library.
