Johnstone's Scores Highly at Coventry City FC

A splash of colour from Johnstone’s has ensured areas of Coventry City’s new club shop now echoes the team’s famous sky blue kit.

Coventry City finished runners up with Crewe Alexandra in last season’s inaugural Paint Pot Challenge, behind champions Oxford United, winning a paint prize of Johnstone’s product, which they used as part of the decoration of their new club shop.

For the past eight years, leading paint brand Johnstone’s has sponsored the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and recently launched the Johnstone’s Team Colours colour card, which gives supporters the opportunity to decorate the walls of their home with their team’s colours.

Coventry City’s colour in the range has been named Sky Blue to reflect the club’s famous moniker and now areas of the club shop have been coated in the colour to give it a fresh new look. The colour was specified for use in Johnstone’s Acrylic Durable Matt after Johnstone’s Territory Manager David Linford conducted a complete assessment of the shop, which is based on the Gallagher Retail Park.

David advised the club that Johnstone’s Acrylic Durable Matt, which was supplied by the Johnstone’s Decorating Centre on Coventry’s Gosford Road, would offer a tough finish that is resistant to staining, as well as having the necessary durability to withstand the high levels of traffic the shop receives.

David said: “We are thrilled that Coventry City has used Johnstone’s market-leading products to bring the club shop in line with the team’s famous colours.

“The innovative colour tinting machines across our Johnstone’s Decorating Centre network can match to over 16,000 colours and ensures we can offer something for the requirements of all our customers, including professional football clubs!”

Coventry City’s corporate sales manager Tynan Scope said: “The Paint Pot Challenge is always enjoyable for the players and this Johnstone’s Paint Trophy season was a significant one for the club.

“Finishing as the runners-up in the Paint Pot Challenge was memorable for all involved and we’re delighted to have received a Johnstone’s product prize for our efforts.

“The Sky Blue colour is perfect for the club shop and we’re thrilled that Johnstone’s has created it especially for us and for our supporters.”
