Johnstone’s Trade has played a key role in the rejuvenation of Cheeky Hands, a centre for deaf children in South Wales.
Enthusiastic organisers from Cheeky Hands appealed for help to transform the derelict outdoor area and run down hall, to create a bright and engaging new play area for deaf children up to the age of 10.
Johnstone’s Trade joined the project to revitalise the centre, donating all of the paints, brushes and scaffolding needed for the transformation.
The colourful new space will give the children an opportunity to interact with others, encouraging the development of sign language. The centre also introduces deaf children with hearing parents to deaf adults, as part as an initiative to help build their self-confidence and interaction with their peers with similar difficulties.
