At Johnstone’s Trade, we have long been supporters of innovative and inspiring architecture which is why we were proud to sponsor this year’s Architect of the Year Awards.
Organised by Building Design, the awards are an annual celebration of architecture that recognise a body of work across a wide range of sectors.
We sponsored the Interior Architect of the Year category, which was won by London-based practice Spacelab. The judges said: “Spacelab has tackled a wide range of office schemes including a corporate HQ for Virgin Money in Edinburgh, a contemporary warehouse style conversion for Jaguar’s in-house ad agency Spark 44 and an office for ad agency VCCP.
“The conversion of the art deco Greater London House in Camden was delivered for a remarkable £38 per sq ft. This bold conversion particularly impressed the judges who said Spacelab had managed to pull off an original look despite the constraints of an existing building and executed it perfectly.”
After handing over the award, Johnstone’s regional specification manager – south, Tim Brightwell, said: “The quality of work on show all evening was outstanding so it’s testament to Spacelab’s innovative approach that they were recognised above all others. A huge congratulations from everyone at Johnstone’s!”
