Johnstone’s Trade Helps Bring Iconic Telephone Boxes To Life
09/07/2017
At Johnstone’s Trade we have recently been involved with the Risby Parish Council in West Suffolk to help them adopt the iconic red box by bringing their defibrillator phone boxes to life. In 2012, the British Coatings Federation (BCF) introduced a nationwide scheme to install life-saving defibrillators in rural phone boxes. Since the launch of the “Adopt a Kiosk” scheme, more than 4000 communities across the UK have seized the opportunity to do something wonderful with local phone boxes that had little or no usage.
The scheme has grown immensely over the years and we have continued to work closely with the British Coatings Federation (BCF), BT and the Community Heartbeat Trust to help provide free high quality paint to many phone boxes all over the country. Most recently our Johnstone’s Trade Professional Undercoat and Gloss has supported the refurbishment of the Risby Parish Council.
A defibrillator can deliver vital medical treatment in the first critical minutes following cardiac arrest, when the chances of survival drop dramatically with each minute. The UK Resuscitation Council recommends having a defibrillator nearby when medical treatment is more than five miles away, which is the case for most rural UK locations.
We have supported the transformation of post boxes in many locations including Devon, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire and Leicestershire and we look forward to supporting the scheme to help regenerate many more.
