Decorators across the UK were given the opportunity to get hands on with the Johnstone’s Aqua Gloss system over the summer to experience first-hand the amazing application qualities.
The Johnstone’s Aqua Challenge roadshow visited 62 Johnstone’s Decorating Centres and Johnstone’s Trade stockists over the course of July and August and gave decorators the chance to try out the hugely impressive application attributes of the popular water-based system, which features an undercoat and gloss top coat.
Johnstone’s undertook a wave-making reformulation of its water-based Aqua Gloss system in 2012 to ensure decorators were equipped with a product that overcame the impacts of legislative changes on solvent-based products but still boasted similar application qualities of the traditional paints that decorators love so much.
Over the past 12 months, more and more decorators have switched to using the Aqua Gloss system after discovering that the application is more like that of a solvent-based gloss, but also brings with it the benefits of shorter drying times, reduced yellowing and lower odour.
Johnstone’s wanted to ensure that all of its loyal customers were given the opportunity to apply the Aqua Gloss system for themselves and it was little surprise that the response from those who took part in the Aqua Challenge, including die-hard solvent-based gloss advocates, was resoundingly positive.
Eddie Fitzgerald from MJ Kloss in Surrey said: “It’s a lovely product with a remarkable finish once the application is mastered.”
Decorator Stephen Reid added: “I did prefer the old solvent-based gloss product, but having tried out the new water-based system I’ve found it to provide a much better finish.”
The results of the Aqua Challenge have shown that decorators can trust in the application qualities and performance of the water-based system and that the demand for these products doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon.
